I'm applying for a new job, and they asked me to get a no criminal record certificate. I got my record expunged 2 years ago in CA, where I used to live- will it show up on the check? I know getting it expunged means it shouldn't, but how can I check and make sure that my expunged record won't show up?
If your conviction was expunged 2 years ago, the record should be updated in all governement and private sector databases by now. Sometimes it can take a year or more for some backgroundcheck companies to update their databases to remove your conviction. My law firm offers a service that expedites the removal of expunged and sealed records from private or commerical background check companies. Â
If your conviction was expunged 2 years ago, you probably should not need that service. However, you can read about it at http://www.recordgone.com/remove-record-from-public-databases.htm
You can check your record by having a background check ran on you.
