sealing police reports

We had a terrible experience with the police which resulted in a police report issued listing him my son as a suspected child molester.  (His father was,  he is not!)   I believe the decision was made on the commonly held but not true belief that a person abused as a child was likely  (some say almost surely!) to be an abuser himself.   What can I do?   Can I go to the police and ask them to review and correct their report?   Should we start the formal process to seal the record?

If your son was arrested?  Is the police report appearing on his CA Department of Justice Report?
