When I was 17 years old I was convicted for theft class b misdemeanor after stealing out of a store. As a child I was not aware of the effect that this would have in my adult life. I cannot expunge or seal this charge because I did not accept probation or deferred adjudication. The judge did not explain my options to me, and now having never been in trouble again, and working hard to be somebody I find it hard to grow in any career path because this charge haunts me when I apply for the careers that I really deserve. I feel as though I am being punished for something that I did not truly understand, and honestly I was a minor unaware of the effects my choice would have on my life.
