Felon, and Want My Second Ammendment Right Back.
My name is Brian, I am 28 and am tired of being unable to gain employment, use civil services and own a rifle. No voting, No Gun ownership, No Jury Duty… When did this country become so full of itself.
In late 2001 I was arrested for Burglary Of A Building ( A buddy and I broke a store front window to a computer repair/dealer business and took a computer from the display.) This is of course a non-violent offence and was my first and only offence. The court had it out for me though, since that “Buddy” of mine was locally notorious for theft and drugs. I won’t make excuses, I did what I did and served 4 years probation for it. Of course, it ruined my life. Now, I can’t vote, can’t be on jury duty and in my opinion the worst thing was having my Second Ammendment Right taken away from me “The right to bear arms”. I am not a violent person, and as the years have passed by, I have become bitter due to the system trying to keep me down. I can’t get a good job and am forced to work manual labor to get by.
What I would like to know is since it was a non-violent offence and was my first and only offence are there any resources out there to help me both financially and legally to seal/expunge my record so I can become a productive member of society? I would like to be able to apply for a job without having to write down that I have been convicted of a felony. I would like to go hunting with my family without having to go bow hunting. This stigma that is attached to felons is ridiculous. I am not a bad person, quite the opposite I believe. I deserve the right to defend my family if neccessary and go hunting if I choose to. Please help me.
