I am an alcoholic. I got sober the day I was convicted and have and have been so for almost 13 years. I have NEVER been unemployed and I dutifully pay my taxes , abide by all laws and contribute to my community.
If ever there was a picture of rehabilitation and recovery , I am it!
I am not saying that this conviction should be removed from my record ( I was guilty ) , but this nonviolent , non-aggrivated conviction should not prevent me from “legally” protecting my home and family ( especially in these times ).
People CAN change , and the courts should recognize that.
