Hi,Â
I really want to become a teacher. BUT, I have a criminal record. Am I able to get it sealed? If it is sealed, then can schools still see it when I apply? Is it even possible to become a teacher when you have a criminal record?
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!

Some misdemeanors do not affect your ability to become a teacher, but any felony would. In Tennessee, you can only expunge your record – there is no way to seal it. Expungements are only available if you a) had your charge dismissed, or b) successfully completed pre-trial or post-trial diversion. Unfortunately, Tennessee is one of the more difficult states in which to obtain an expungement.
Let me know if you have any other questions,
