Hi there,

I'm asking a question on behalf of my DH (which stands for 'darling husband', if you were wondering).

Since he got laid off from his job in January, DH has been unemployed, and has been having a hard time finding another job. I always chalked it up to the economy, but last night, he told me that the main reason why a lot of his interviews didn't go so well was because of his criminal record.

Just to set the record straight, my DH is a wonderful man, so I was certainly shocked that he even had a criminal record! DH assured me that it was a one-time, stupid mistake (a store break-in with his college frat buddies way back in the day).

I want to know if there's anyway that DH can get his criminal record sealed off, since it was such a small crime (and it was so long ago).

As long as it was your husbands only offense, he should be able to file a motion to expunge a record of conviction with the courts. Sorry I cannot be of more help, you will probably have to speak with an attorney in your state to find out exactly how to file the motion.
