Eric V

Hello my name is Eric and I was convicted of some felonies and I have found that in some states it's easier to get employment than in others. I live in a different state than the one I reside but for some reason it's harder to get employment here than there, Iowa and Illinois. I would like to know why it is legally acceptable to discriminate against a person who served the sentence given to them sucessfully and was released from state costudy?

Because unlike race, gender or age, which are protected classes, felons are not a protected class.

That being said, some states do limit how criminal records can be used for purposes of evaluating a person for housing or employment purposes.   I believe MA an NY have the most protections for those with a record.
