I took MCL 750.414 and MCL 750.540E as a plea deal in August 2005. I recently went and legally purchased a firearm, took it to the police department, and registered it without incident. I later applied for a CPL, to which I was turned down and told I couldnt even own a handgun because the 750.414 is a two year misdemeanor. The Macomb County Gun Board said, for their purpose, it's a felony. My ICHAT report clearly states it as a misdemeanor although I know that the definition of a felony is "

750.7 Felony; definition. Felony–The term "felony" when used in this act, shall be construed to mean an offense for which the offender, on conviction may be punished by death, or by imprisonment in state prison.
 Anyone with legal expertise or practicing lawyer care to respond or take up the case?

I know I cant have the charges expunged, but this doesnt seem right. Am I supposed to petition for restoration? How did I not get any flack from the police when I got the pistol registered?
