When I was 19, me and my ex friend stole from Wal-Mart. I'm not a horrible person, though I made a horrible mistake. This was almost 5 years ago and I still have 2 years left before I can get my record expunged, but this very episode hunts me day in and day out. Ultimately, I want to be a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and at this moment I am pursuing my BA in Psychology and I still have a long way to go before I reach my dream. To this day, I have not gotten into anymore trouble, not even been pulled over for an infraction by the police. My question is, can I get my licensure (after I get my only misdemeanor expunged) in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). I'm also wanting to pursue my Licensure for Professional Counseling (LPC) before I go for Psychology, just so that I can get acquainted with a graduate program and it will be easier for me to get into a doctorate program having already completed an M. Ed. Futhermore, after getting my current record expunged, do I have to tell anyone about the expungement? It states in kentucky's statutes that after having my record expunged, I do not have to dicose this information, but I want to work for the government and the licensure requirements are different as well. Quite frankily, I need an attorney's help.

My conviction was In Dec 07 for theft by unlawful taking. I did 2 years of probation and now I am continuing to serve out my 5 years so that I can get my record expunged. Have not had a decent job in my life, because this incident happened when I was 19 (I'll be 25 in Sept) Please, I need anyone to help me!! I have two kids and a family and I want to counsel so bad!!!!!!

Look up the Kentucky Statutes for Expungement. It specifies that you need to deal with another state's case in that state. In other words, you're not able to deal with an Illinois felony drug charge in Kentucky. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Lucky Mom,

Under Kentucky law passed in 1992, judges, upon request, must expunge misdemeanor convictions five years after completion of the person's sentence if the applicant has no other criminal violations within that time. See Ky. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 431.078. Under § 431.078(1), “any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor or a violation, or a series of misdemeanors or violations arising from a single incident, may petition the court in which he was convicted for expungement of his misdemeanor or violation record.” A person must be informed of this “right” at the time of adjudication.

The only felony convictions eligible for expungement are Class D drug possession convictions.

I hope that this helps you out with some of the information you are looking for. Without greater detail regarding what you rap sheet may show it is hard to provide you with additional information.

That should answer your question. But still it's hard to say exactly what might happen without further details about the records and the date.

In 2002 I received a felony conviction from a Life insurance company. During that time I was employed by another company that continued to keep me. I worked for them up until this year 2011.

My work history since 2002 has been excellent, but I am in need a job change and some further education. I need to have my record sealed, expunged, or pardoned?? I am not sure living in KY what I can do. I do not wish to ever deal with any type of life, health or any type of insurance selling. But in order to be eligible for some education benefits and other potentially decent jobs afterwards I need to be able to apply without fear of being rejected employment due to my "long time ago" past history.

Is there anything I can do at this point?
